Vacation Day 7

We spent our last day in Long Beach in the beautiful Avia hotel right by the harbor- it was amazing! Unfortunately the day was SOOOO hot (102 degrees- end of September!) so we had to spend the day inside somewhere. Lucky for us the Aquarium of the Pacific was a 3 minute walk from our hotel and it was a great way to spend the day (awesome fish n' chips!- seems like strange to eat it in an aquarium though...) the kids loved it and it was nicely air conditioned.

Jane helped with one of the seal demonstrations- she held up the triangle and the seal came to it- it was pretty cool!

We started off the day on a walk around the harbor before it got too hot

Did you know that sharks hatch from eggs...!? I honestly didn't know that. At the aquarium they take some of the eggs and cut out a square carefully and replace it with a window of hard plastic so you can see the developing shark embryo- I think it was THE coolest thing by far I have ever seen! In some of the eggs that were due to hatch soon you could see a teeny tiny shark swimming around inside the egg!

Ava would go into these little caves and pretend they were her office
